Meet the Staff

Meet the Gerry's Music Shop Staff:

Normand and Ann Provost, Owners
Norm began his relationship with Gerry's Music as a clarinet student at the age of 12. In the summer of 1957, Norm was hired by then owner Gerry Lamothe, as a part time clerk.

Norm's part time job turned into a full time love of music. His passion for music and his innate business sense propelled him and Ann to purchase Gerry's in 1974.

Working as a team, Norm and Ann dedicated their selves to supporting music throughout Western Massachusetts and the surrounding areas. Together, they worked to expand the services the store offered and are currently the largest instrumental school music dealer in the Pioneer Valley, offering lessons to over 300 students per week, the regions most complete repair department and knowledgeable staff. Norm and Ann have 5 children and 10 grand children. Their youngest son Jim currently serves as the store manager.

Jim Provost, Sales Manager
Jim has been working at Gerry's Music since April of 1992. He attended Stonehill College where he graduated with a Liberal Arts degree. Before returning to work with the family business, Jim worked as an administrative assistant for a State Representative in the Massachusetts State House. Jim currently lives in South Hadley with his wife and 4 children.

When Jim first returned to Gerry's, he served as the Sales and Educational Representative servicing over 40 school districts throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. Currently, Jim oversees the daily operations of the store and provides sales assistance to the inside sales staff and customers. As a trumpet player in various community groups, Jim's expertise lies in the area of Brass. He often plays at his Church where his wife Amanda serves as the Choir Director.

David Tallarida, Educational Representative
Raised on Long Island New York, Dave began his musical career as a drummer in his school's music program. From an early age he enjoyed performing in various school groups as well as studying privately. After becoming more serious about his musical endeavors, Dave found himself in Massachusetts when he enrolled at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the fall of 1989. There, he continued performing in groups such as the Minuteman Marching Band, the UMASS Marimba Ensemble and the Wind Symphony Band. In addition, Dave was member of the Star of Indiana in 1993. Dave received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education upon his graduation.

Soon after graduating from UMASS in 1994, Dave began his professional career as a public school music teacher in Dudley MA. Although being a middle school music teacher was both a challenge and extremely rewarding, after 5 years Dave felt he needed a change. In 1999 Dave joined the Gerry's family. As the Educational Representative, Dave has had the pleasure of meeting and developing relationships with over 90 music educators throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut. Always trying to learn something new, his goal remains to provide the best in quality and service for which Gerry's Music Shop is known.
